To assure that the citizens of Pennsylvania are receiving accurate radon testing results, the Radon Monitoring Section conducts ongoing performance evaluations of the certified laboratories.
This section also maintains an inspection program to verify the certified testers and mitigators are following the regulations and protocols for radon testing and installing radon mitigation systems.
The Radon Monitoring Section maintains a charcoal counting laboratory, an E-perm System and a variety of continuous monitors for both radon testing and radon progeny testing. This equipment is used for diagnostics of problem mitigated homes, verifying homes with extremely high radon levels and maintaining the division's remedial program.
